Memorable Georgia

DAY 1: Arrivalto Tbilisi airport. Check-in Tbilisi hotel, have rest. 
Overnight in Tbilisi.


After breakfast drive to Kazbegi. Visit Ananuri- Fortress & Central-Domed Church (16th -17th CC), architectural complex belonged to the house of the Eristavi of Aragvi – a violent local ruler. The characteristic architectural design of the late medieval period includes a fortress, two churches, an old watch tower (which is much older then other buildings), prison and civic buildings. Located on the famous Georgian Military Highway. A picturesque view of reservoir spread bellow opens from the base of the Ananuri Fortress.  A stunning drive from Gudauri  along the Tergi River will bring us to Kazbegi – the main town in the region. From Stepantsminda walk up through beautiful valleys and woodland leads us to Gergeti Trinity Church located at 2170m. Weather permitting you may catch a glimpse of one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus – Mt Kazbegi (5047m). After drive back to the capital of Georgia – Tbilisi.

After breakfast drive to Gori. The city was founded by one of the greatest kings of Georgia - David the Builder (1089–1125).  Visit the JosephStalin Museum in Gori. Afterwards visit Uplistsikhe - "the lord's fortress", which is an ancient rock-hewn town in eastern Georgia. Built on a high rocky left bank of Mtkvari River, it contains various structures dating from the 2nd ML BC to the Late Middle Ages, and is notable for the unique combination of various styles of rock-cut cultures. Drive back to Tbilisi.

Today we will visit David Gareji Monastery is situated deep in semi-desert about 75 km south-east of Tbilisi. The Monasteries were founded in the 6th century by the Christian Father St. David. Walk up to Udabno to explore some of the fine frescos of the 8th-13th c. and cave architecture. The complex includes hundreds of cells, churches, chapels, refectories and living quarters hollowed out of the rock face. The town is also known for its landscapes and historical monuments and has recently turned into an important centre of Georgia's tourist industry.
After visiting  Signaghi we will continue our trip to Bodbe, on  June 1, Orthodox Church of Georgia marks the day of St. Ninos entrance from Cappadocia. Her tomb is still shown at the Bodbe Monastery in Kakheti region, eastern Georgia. St. Nino has become one of the most venerated saints of the Georgian Orthodox Church and her attribute, a Grapevine cross, is a symbol of Georgian christianity.
Overnight in Signaghi.


Today we will have sightseeing tour in capital of Georgia – Tbilisi. Our trip will start from Metekhi Church (13th c)  which overlooks on the Mtkvari river. There is a statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, founder of Tbilisi, in front of the church. Old Tbilisi, Sulfur Bath (5-6th cc), Narikala Fortress (5th  c), Sioni (13th.c) and Anchiskhati Churches (6th.c); walk down the path hill and on cobbled Leselidze street, come across Georgian Orthodox and Armenian Churches and a Jewish synagogue, also Turkish mosque side by side, reflecting Tbilisis acceptance and tolerance of different religions.

DAY 6: Departure, transfer to Tbilisi airport.
