Draft Itinerary 9 Days
DAY 1: Meeting at the airport and transfer to hotel
Overnight in Tbilisi.
DAY 2: TBILISI CITY TOUR
Tbilisi is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the both banks of Mtkvari River. Founded in the 5th century by Vakhtang Gorgasali, the famous Georgian King of Iberia. Tbilisi sightseeing tour, visit old Tbilisi, museums, churches and architectural monuments, places of special interest. Overnight in Tbilisi.
DAY 3: TBILISI - ANANURI - GUDAURI - KAZBEGI MOUNTAINS
Our tour will start to Kazbegi direction. Will visit Ananuri Fortress & Central-Domed Church (16th -17th CC), architectural complex, which is located on th Military Highway. After drive to Gudauri, along the Tergi River will bring us to Stepantsminda – the main town in Kazbegi region. Cross the “Jvari” pass whichs altitude is 2395 m above the sea level. From Kazbegi you will walk up through beautiful valleys and woodland leads to Gergeti Trinity Church located at 2170m from the sea level. Overnight in Kazbegi.
DAY 4: KAZBEGI - SNOS CASTLE - JUTA - KAZBEGI
The trip will start our trip from the Snos Castle is on the right bank of the Snoswater river, nearly 1760 meters from the sea level. Juta – the village of Kazbegi Municipality, it is located in the South Caucasus mountain range on the slope. Overnight in Kazbegi.
DAY 5: KAZBEGI - GORI - UPLISTSIKHE - BORJOMI PARK
After breakfast drive to Gori. Visit the Joseph Stalin Museum in Gori. Afterwards visit Uplistsikhe, "the lord's fortress",(dating from the 2nd ML BC to the Late Middle Ages), which is an ancient rock-hewn town in eastern Georgia. Built on a high rocky left bank of Mtkvari River, it contains various structures and is notable for the unique combination of various styles of rock-cut cultures. After drive to Borjomi. Have a stop to taste the Borjomi natural mineral water. Have free time to take a walk in Borjomi Park. Overnight in Borjomi.
DAY 6: BORJOMI - ATSKURI CASTLE – KHERTVISI FORTRESS - VARDZIA - BORJOMI
Drive to Vardzia direction. On the way visit Atskuri Fortress built in the 10th century, which was an important stronghold for the defense of Georgia during the Medieval ages, located on the right bank of the Mtkvari river. Khertvisi Castle (9th-10th c.c.); This fortress is one of the oldest fortresses in Georgia and was functional throughout the Georgian feudal period. Afterwards will visit Vardzia - a rock-hewn complex on the left bank of the river Mtkvari was founded in the 12th -13th c.c. Then drive to Borjomi. Overnight in Borjomi.
DAY 7: BORJOMI - KUTAISI - BAGRATI - GELATI - MOCAMETA - KUTAISI
After start Kutaisi city tour. Kutaisi is the second largest city of Georgia in its west part founded about 40 centuries ago, former capital of the west Georgian Kingdom Colchis, to which is related the myth of Golden Fleece and Argonauts. Visiting Bagrati Temple (11th c. UNESCO heritage) and Gelati Monastery (12th c. UNESCO heritage). Visit smaller monastery of Motsameta, spectacularly sited on a cliff-edge. Overnight in Kutaisi.
DAY 8: KUTAISI - SATAPLIA - MTSKHETA - TBILISI
Drive to visit Sataplia caves. Sataplia State Reserve is a most multifarious and very rare monument. After drive to the ancient city Mtskheta, (UNESCO Heritage Site), an ancient capital of the Georgian Kingdom from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD. Jvari Monastery (6th c.); Svetitskhoveli Cathedral built in the 11th century. Drive back to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.
DAY 9: Drive to the Tbilisi Airport.
